Working Principle of AC Radial Blower Fans
The working of a radial blower, commonly known as a centrifugal blower, is similar to a compressor. The main purpose of a radial blower is to take a low-pressure air stream and deliver a high speed, high volume air stream in a radial direction to the rotation axis. To achieve desired results, the AC radial blowers are designed to function in the following way:
- As an initial step of working of an AC radial blower fan, the low-pressure stream of air enters from an inlet valve in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation.
- From the inlet valve to the tip of the impeller, the air travels in a forward linear direction. However, from the central tip of the impeller, the air takes a 90˚ turn along the surface of an impeller.
- The air glides through the impeller blades as a result of centrifugal action. The result of centrifugal action can be either increase in the speed of the impeller due to air pressure or a speed rise due to the centrifugal rotational motion of the impeller blades.
- As the air travels from the central tip of the blade to the end tip of the impeller, it is forced to enter the casing area of the AC blower fan.
- From the casing, the high volume of air is delivered at high speed as an output.
